MJM Electric places a high priority on safety as is evident in our tag line “Safety and Quality are our Priorities”.
Management consistently preaches that safety and productivity are equally important, one not being emphasized more then the other. We believe that our employees understand that we promote safety for the right reasons. The right reason being that we want everyone to go home in as good of a condition as when they came to work. We do not encourage safety in an effort to save money. In fact, MJM Electric invests heavily in our safety culture, incentives, training and personal protective equipment to protect our employees.
The industrial electrical contracting business is viewed by the State of Florida as one of the most dangerous areas of construction. MJM Electric has always and currently possess an incident rate from worker’s compensation far below the industry average. This is a result of working for quality customers that share our emphasis on safety.
The various safety policies and practices are conceived, reviewed and policed by the MJM Electric Safety Committee. This committee is made up of seven MJM Electric employees, three management, three field and one administrative. The field representatives are some of the most respected electricians the company has.
The committee is led by our safety chairman, Chuck Carver. Chuck Carver has had extensive safety training’s as well as 25 years working in the field.
Committee Responsibilities:
The real key to a successful safety culture is for everyone to be involved and responsible. MJM Electric insists that its owner, project managers, entire office staff as well as the field employees all take ownership in our safety culture. We want our employees to not only look out for themselves but also for their fellow employees and employees of other companies working around them.
2015-2017 – MJM Electric is award Mosaic’s Platinum Safety Award for continuing stellar safety records. MJM Electric, Inc. is the only Mosaic Electrical Contractor to ever win a Platinum Award, and the only contractor of any craft to win three.
April 13, 2013 – MJM Electric Annual Safety Banquet at Temple Terrace Country Club to honor all employees for their safety performance thoughout the year – This year’s theme “Don’t Gamble with Safety”.
March 21, 2013 – MJM Electric is awarded the 2012 Gold Safety Award which is MJM’s 6th consecutive Safety Award from Mosaic Company.
March 4, 2013 – MJM is awarded in Recognition of Excellent Safety Performance at the Bartow Mosaic Company from July 2012 – December 2012.
April 2012 – MJM is awarded the 2011 Gold Safety Award from the Mosaic Company.
April 2011 – MJM is awarded the 2010 Bronze Safety Award from the Mosaic Company.
May 2, 2010 – MJM held its annual Company Safety Picnic at the Dover Patriots Football Field and Park. With great food, fun games, a DJ, and wonderful prizes, a good time was had by all who attended.
April 30, 2010 – MJM is awarded the 2009 Gold Safety Award from The Mosaic Company.
July 14, 2009 – MJM is awarded the 2008 Silver Safety Award from The Mosaic Company.
May 17, 2009 – MJM had its annual Company Safety Picnic at Lupton’s Boggy Bottom Ranch. Our purpose in providing this picnic for our employees and their families is to show our appreciation for the company’s .77 incident rate. We had over 140 people in attendance. There were lots of children, plenty of food and everyone had a good time.
June 20, 2008 – MJM is awarded the 2007 Silver Safety Award from The Mosaic Company.
